You will be meet by our personnel and start your private tour with a drive along the coastal road while our guide explains the history of Ancient Greece, passing by the famous Corinth Canal – a canal that connects the Gulf of Corinth (Ionian Sea) with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea.
It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnesian peninsula from the Greek mainland, thus effectively making the former an island. The Corinth Canal is considered a great technical achievement for its time.
The Corinth Canal it saves the 700-kilometre journey around the Peloponnesus for smaller ships, but since it is only 24 metres wide it is too narrow for modern ocean freighters. The canal is nowadays mostly used by tourist ships; 11,000 ships per year travel through the waterway.
The water in the canal is 8 metres deep. At the maximum, the walls are 52 metres high. The canal is 6.3 kilometres in length and was built between 1881 and 1893.

Temple of Apollo
We drive to Ancient Corinth where St. Paul lived and preached – teaching the word of God with respect to laws. We will visit the Agora and the most outstanding monument of pre-Roman period, the Temple of Apollo and Acrocorinth is one of the most important medieval castle sites of Greece.
Corinth city is now the capital of the prefecture of Corinthia. The city is surrounded by the coastal townlets of (clockwise) Lechaio, Isthmia, Kechries, and the inland townlets of Examilia and the archaeological site.
Geophysically the city is likewise surrounded by the narrow coastal plain of Vocha, Corinthian Gulf, Corinth Canal, Saronic Gulf, Oneia Mountains, and the monolithic rock of Acrocorinth where the medieval acropolis was built since 7th Century BC.
The Ancient Corinth’s archaic acropolis, a natural defense and impregnable Byzantine castle it became the seat of Byzantine general responsible for the defense of the Greek peninsula Hellas.
Later it was a fortress occupied by the Franks after the Fourth Crusade, the Venetians and later by the Turks.
Acrocorinth’s fortress – 4 km above Ancient Corinth – was used as the last line of defense in southern Greece because it commanded the Isthmus of Corinth, repelling foes from entering into the Peloponnesian peninsula.
Three circuit walls formed the man-made defense of the hill. The highest peak on the site was occupied by a famous temple of Aphrodite in Antiquity which was turned into a Christian church, and then became a mosque. The American School began excavations on it in 1929.
We continue to Nemea – an ancient site near the head of the valley of the River Elissos in the northeastern part of Peloponnese. Next to the new town of Nemea, approximately 30 kilometers southwest of Corinth, the region was first noted for its winemaking by Homer who called it Ampelóessa, “full of vines.”
Today, the appellation of Nemea is the most important red wine place of southern Greece and arguably of all of Greece. In Nemea, the indigenous Greek Agiorgitiko grape is used and produces wines famous for their deep red color with violet and blue hues, complex aroma and long, velvety palate.
We will visit the state of the art winery facilities and we will learn everything for the production of Greek quality red wine. Furthermore we will continue to the underground cellars with more that 1000 French oak barriques.
Finally we will taste a variety of the best wines of the domain.
Afterwards we will drive back to your original pick up point.
